Carnelian is actually a variety of chalcedony, which is a type of quartz. Carnelian is believed to stimulate different chakras, bringing about positive effects related to those energy centers.
The main chakra that carnelian is associated with is the sacral chakra. The sacral chakra is located below the navel and is considered the center of creativity, sexuality, and emotions. Orange stones like carnelian are excellent for activating and balancing this chakra. Wearing or carrying carnelian can boost fertility, increase libido, improve flow of creative energy, and enhance emotional well-being. The vibrant color brings passion and pleasure to life when the sacral chakra is balanced.
In healing crystal work, carnelian is also thought to influence the lower three chakras in general. The root chakra located at the base of the spine deals with security, survival, and feeling grounded. The sacral chakra relates to intimacy, emotions, pleasure, and creativity as mentioned. Finally, the solar plexus chakra above the navel governs confidence, self-esteem, and sense of self. Together, these lower chakras make up the foundation for vitality and aliveness. Carnelian adds bright life force to this energetic foundation.
In addition to the lower three chakras, carnelian can activate the upper heart chakra. The heart chakra rules love, compassion, and connection to others. As a stone of bold passion that also promotes warmth, carnelian marries the lower and upper chakras. Its joyful and lively presence brings integration and wholeness. It provides a sense of complete security in one's own skin coupled with an open heart that embraces community.
With its fiery orange-red rays, carnelian shines light throughout the body's core. From the root to the spleen, carnelian energizes the physical areas related to the lower chakras. It brings passion for life by awakening the primal creative spark while lending courage and power. With bright vitality, carnelian gets energy moving and helps you take action on dreams and desires.
Carnelian's glowing embers also warm a path to the heart chakra above, making this stone well-rounded in its effects. It connects you more deeply to yourself and to loved ones. The warmth of carnelian stimulates not only the life-giving lower chakras but also the heart-opening upper chakras. Its vibrant energy carries you through the full spectrum of life's experiences.
So if you are looking for a crystal ally to activate your sacral chakra and energize your lower foundations, bring home the joyful passion of carnelian. Let its orange rays fill your core with confidence, creativity, and zest for life as this ancient stone connects you to your wild and free spirit.
